Dar guess what?

Sometimes when you travel and you want to visit a city, the weather is rather moody and ruins your plans. Moreover, if you’re passioned about photography like this munchkin here, a rain that could last for hours, for sure it affects your Feng shui.

I love to admire the old buildings, to photograph people walking on streets and their style, to sit down and gaze at everything around me and honestly, the rain makes it all more dramatic. People look sad, without energy, they cover themselves with a lot of layers, the buildings become dirty and everything looks gloomy.

You look through your hotel room’s window and feel a lil bit depressed because you don’t know what to visit under these conditions. But guess what? You still have options to choose from and not feel like your holiday is ruined.

That’s what happen to me, the last time when I visited Paris and I had to rethink my travel plan, on a rainy day.

First place goes to museums, which I’m sure you already planned to visit, but now you will visit more of them.

Look for an online touristic guide.

Events in Paris

If you’re not keen on art, photography, history or sculptures, you can always go shopping. In Paris, there are a lot of shopping malls from where you can buy everything that your shopaholic heart wishes for.

However, take into account that Paris is well known for a place that combines art with the shopping experience : the famous Galeries Lafayette .

When you walk down the main street, it’s like you walk through another world : high rise old buildings, smiling people, colored creative shop windows, a lot of movement, shapes…I could not resist but imagine how people used to look like in the past walking on that street and I tried to visualize every man and woman walking by, with clothes specific to that period. Oh my God, what if I had a magical camera and I could photograph them with what I was imagining…how would they have reacted like?

Honestly, I was confused about which shop should I visit first.

I was walking down on Haussmann street, heading to the galleries.

I stopped to see some shops that can be found in Romania also, like Zara, C & A, H & M, Mango. They are not much different then ours, but I can recall some differences: in Paris, they’re more expensive, but they have items that are not yet released in Romania and they have more employees, always eager to help you choose what fits you best…and… let’s not forget about sales because they are not kidding when it comes to sales 🙂

P.S : when I was referring to items not yet released in Romania(at least at Zara), I’m talking from experience. I found a pair of gorgeous boots in a store located on Champs, in December and I bought them from Romania, end of January.

Where was I? Aha, the galleries…

If you’re a foodie like me, don’t forget to visit a BIG shop (La Maison & Le Gourmet) with home products and food, right across the street of L.G. I promise you’ll be beyond happy: macaroons, eclairs, chocolate, pastries, spices, everything you can dream of. And big credits to the salesmen, which are way more nicer then ours and know how to make your day beautiful and of course, make you buy like crazy. Or it’s just me who does that? :))

#chocolate....and a hammer. What else can you wish for?

Anyway, when you’re done with all the food and your tummy is happy enough, cross the street and be amazed: Galeries Lafayette, whose tale begins in the 19th century.

Did you know?

The name comes actually from the name of the street, at that time : La Fayette?

The tourists are more impressed about the colored dome. You can spend hours and hours in this gigantic place, to see all nine floors. From brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Burberry, Balenciaga, Guess, Chanel, Fendi and items like jewelry, perfumes, clothes, make up and hair products, children clothes, souvenirs, shoes, I’m sure it won’t be difficult to find something for you or your loved ones. And again, if you’re lucky to visit it within sales period, be prepared because there will be major sales.

It seems that the dream of the founders to create a “luxury bazaar” came true.

Wiki says it’s a 70000 m2 fashion flagship with a wide range of brands to suit all budgets, from ready to wear to haute couture.

We all know men get exhausted fast when it comes to shopping, but don’t worry…they have a list of restaurants to choose from and can wait there, while eating, until the shopaholic inside their partners gets exhausted too. 🙂

Did I tell you that they host weekly free fashion shows for visitors? YAAAS! Check their website to see the schedule and the conditions.

Cherry on top, you should definitely see the last floor, on top of the building. You will be amazed by this panoramic view of the city. Make sure to spend some time to admire everything around and think how lucky you are to get to visit such a beautiful city like Paris.
